Botswana
Botswana is one of Africa's great success stories. Before achieving democratic rule in 1966 it was one of the world’s poorest and unexplored countries, which was only visited by tough adventurers. But after its independence from Britain three of the world’s richest diamond-bearing formations were discovered within its borders and made it one of Africa’s wealthiest countries.
Today tourism is the second largest export sector after diamonds. As the oldest African democracy, Botswana enjoys a high standard of economic stability, education and health care, which with the exception of South Africa is unequalled elsewhere in sub-Saharan Africa.
Botswana is a land full of contrasts and home to lots of natural spectacles. Its environmental friendly policy ensures conservation of its natural habitat and high standards of accommodation and services. Nearly 40 % of the total surface of Botswana has been set aside for conservation in national parks and game reserves. Thanks to this amazing commitment, travellers from all over the world visit Botswana to experience the 'best all-round safari destination in the world'.
Botswana is truly the Africa of our dreams. Due to stable food supplies and a year-round water supply, Botswana is home to nearly all southern African mammal species and some of Africa's largest elephant herds live here, a truly authentic wildlife experience is guaranteed.
